I'm truly sorry for teh situation that you are in with the NGKRA rules. I didn't make the rules. At OP's race in Kentucky there was a cart with a live rear and he ran for the money with the rest of us. This guy has a business that provides motors for racing go carts so he used a go kart rear axle.

The rule is obviously still there for NGKRA sanctioned events but that one was not and I'm not sure which will be or won't be sanctioned. Rules can be changed. I have no dog in the rule fight but there are other carts like yours that need to race with everyone else in my opinion. Perhaps something will be different in the future.

Yes, I'm building a cart that will be legal for NGKRA but I'm not building it just because of that. I see the sport being more centered around events like Troy's that are bracket races. I hope that the powers that be will see that and do away with the classes as they are in both sanctioning bodies. Something like 2 brackets. 12.00 seconds and slower and 11.99 and faster and let whoever has whatever run. The time slips will tell the tale of who has the fastest cart but a slower cart still has a chance to win. Bracket racing is the grass roots of automotive drag racing. Cart racing should take a lesson from that in my opinion.

Well Said Terry.
As of now my events will be sponsored buy me, with or with out donations. If the IG, or NG wants to stand up and sponsor, as long as they allow they other to race, They can sponsor. I will NOT exclude anyone from my events unless traack officials bar them, them selves.
As much as I would like to see rifters V8 powered machine go, I will not allow it to race next to a golf cart at my events. It has nothing to do with being, or not being a golf cart, but more about running a 2000-3000 lb machine next to a golf cart, which in my opinion is unsafe.
If we ever get enough carts involved, I prolly will split it in 2 2 differant classes.
And jeremy, the guy in the pic about is already looking to find a rear golf cart axle to put on his cart.

Terry, congrates on your new toy and good luck, I'm shure you'll make it cool and safe...and fast! AGC, very cool, your actually offering to put on events that everyone can "run what they brung" and have fun. I agree, Rifters new car is for another race platform, but I'd like to see him run it (single, as an exabition) at a golf car race event for the "WOW" factor, and his G2 run when ever possible. Lets be honest, NGKRA (National Golf Kart Race Association)...sounds like spelled...was ment for golf carts! Your car's are no more golf carts then Rifters new one. You can stick golf cart bodies on a "Missile", but it's still a "Missile" (I could have used other examples)! Can someone tell me what I can or cannot build? Heck no! Will I ever get a chance to run one of my car's down the track, probably not because of my location and the current state of Golf Cart Raceing. Would I take a road trip to attend one, yes, but probably not with a car that distance. Just 2 cents worth from a guy that has been working on/building golf cars for 30 years.....

Thanks Scot! It will be getting some pretty major mods to the chassis and body work. I'll post pics as soon as Bob get's going on it.

I agree with this completely. The example that I like to use is from the NHRA. Calling the chassis carts, carts is akin to calling this a Mustang.

Or perhaps this...

Automotive drag racing has it's funny cars and top fuel dragsters and pro modified's. I don't see why cart racing can't do the same. The way that I see it, these chassis carts truly are simply the funny cars or top fuel dragsters or pro mod's of cart racing. They are no more carts than John Force's funny car is a Mustang but he still calls it a Mustang and Mike Ashley's pro mod is still called a Mustang when in fact hey just "resemble" Mustangs. Both of these NHRA cars are totally custom built chassis and bodies without a single actual Mustang part or piece on them.

I plan to call mine a cart when in reality it is an electric dragster with a golf cart rear end and body. I fail to see harm in that but of course I could be wrong.

No harm at all, you have the right perspective on what you are building, it's not a "Golf Cart" and you are aware of that, it's an Electric Dragster. My V8 Dragster is not a golf cart or a cart it only has a couple pieces of Golf cart body on it for looks and a Theme. I never intended to race against another "Golf Cart" and never will. I built it as an Altered Dragster per NHRA rules for that, any body can be used. If you have an Event close enough that I can attend with my limited budget right now, I will race my Bike engine cart with whoever wants to race against me and maybe an Exibition pass with the V8. No matter what I come across as, I do support you building this and look forward to seeing you run it.

Thank you Rifter!!! I appreciate your words and your support. I would welcome your bike cart to be in the other lane against my cart any day and I would love to see your altered run also!!!! Hopefully we can make that happen in the future.

Got the cart over to Bob's this morning. Thought I'd share a few pics of what he does and of his shop for those of you that might not have see his stuff on the lowered EZGO build. He works for a company whose main business is aircraft maintenance but his job is all custom fabrication for antique and high performance aircraft. They moved to a new facility a few months ago and Bob has his own space now. The cart kinda looks at home with all of these other things that fly.

Here's the 5/8 scale P51 Mustang that he is building. He's actually building 2 of these. He has done some amazing fabrication on this plane. Virtually ever part is hand made. I honestly don't know of anything that he can't do with a piece of metal.

It's powered by an injected big block Chevy.

As you can see, the cart is in good hands. More to come...
