DD vs EMP Motors
Has anyone ever run a comparison or a side by side on DD vs EMP products.
Here is my case: I have several EzGo 36V TXT carts and would like to add 5- 10 mph to their speed. Looking at the available options form both DD and EMP, It appears that the EMP motor replacement would be the cheapest since I would not have to upgrade the controller. What am I missing? |

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
EMP would be the cheapest to add nominal speed without any other upgrades, ie: controller, cables, etc.
D & D, offers upgraded speed & torque packages which will require additional upgrades, ie: controller, cables, etc. + you're getting a new motor, not rebuilt. I have an EMP on one of my carts and it is perfect for what it's used for,...casual driving and considerably faster than stock. My other cart has uprgaded motor, controller, etc. similar to a D&D setup, and it blows 90% of other carts off the road and it was about $1,000 more in money. Depends on what you want. Do the math. I can only say positive things about both companies. |

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
I called D & D the other day for info on motor and controller upgrades. At first I talked to salesman that knew nothing, he referred me to someone else. This person knew his stuff(????). I was asking about a motor/controller on their webpage and he directed me to another combo that was not on their web page. He said it was a laspe between marketing and actual usage. Price was high. If they have other and better combos why isn't it posted on their website. I've heard of nothing but good things from D & D but this made me weary.

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
I know D & D is extremely liabiltiy concious, they don't want sell any packages that could be regarded as dangerous. I know some people have misdirected D&D on purpose so they could get what they want! Talk to Vic, he is very knowledgeable and can read between the lines,...or put a package together yourself from other vendors (That's what I did!). If you ask enough questions on this forum or the plumquick forum, you'll be headed in the right direction! Good luck.

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
Can they make a motor to climb Stone Mountain here in Georgia and run 30 mph on the flat land?

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
P. S. I'm talking about the side of Stone Mountain you can walk up. It gets steep in a couple of places, but less than a mile to the top.
There are sides of the mountain spider man couldn't climb with extra webbing. Side called Lovers Leap. Never had to go there. |

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
buckmanmike,
A buddy of mine "afix" here on the forums, runs a D&D setup that will pull wheelies, tons of torque and run 28mph on flat ground. He needed this setup because he lived in Ga. too. Hills are no longer a problem for him!....I couldn' t comment on Stone Mountain! |

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
I contacted EMP about one of their 2 speed redesign motors for my 36 volt G8. They figured top speed at 23 mph high speed and 16mph low speed. I need too find out what happens with that motor with a higher amp controller and maybe higher gear set. One of my campground friends uses the EMP motor on his Yamaha G16 and it does run great at @22mph.

Re: DD vs EMP Motors
LarryLive, a bigger amp controller will not do anything for your top end unless something is not right with your existing controller.
