Upgrading a new cart..
I bought a 2013 Yamaha Drive for running around the neighborhood. The batteries are not even broke in, but the cart could use a little more power up some steep hills:
1) The battery cables are 6 gauge. Will upgrading to 2 gauge or even 0/2 gauge cables do anything (power, controller and/or battery lifetime improvements)? 2) The cart has (6) 8 volt batteries and looks like it could hold two more. What would I need to upgrade to 64 volts? 3) Who makes a good DIY AC conversion for my cart (everything I have found from searching is dealer install)? |

Re: Upgrading a new cart..
1) Upgrading wires on a brand new cart with no other changes will yield zero gain in torque, larger wires are needed for larger controllers or motor requirements.
2) Upgrading to 64 volts (strange number) would require a new controller, solenoid and battery charger. 3) VCTechUSA http://www.vctechusa.com/ac-conversion-retrofit/ |

Re: Upgrading a new cart..
Would I see any improvement with just a controller upgrade?
I have room for two more batteries, so I was thinking: 48+8+8=64. Is this a bad idea? The AC conversion you linked is not a DIY. |

2) Never heard of a 64v charger either. 3) Sure it's DIY, at least for some people like myself. Here's another website that has more choices (and prices). http://www.evparts.com/products/golf...ontroller-kit/ |

Re: Upgrading a new cart..
Stealth used 64v for their Apache models. The Nighthawk also came in 72v and 64v models. I believe they were using Pro Charging Systems for chargers.
