Can I use these batteries?
Guys, I got 6 12 volt batteries that served as the battery backup for a cell tower site. They are rated at 86 amp hours, whatever that means. I would imagine they would have a greater capacity than the average golf cart battery based on the nature of what they are used for. Can I use these in a golf cart?

Re: Can I use these batateries?
86 amp hours isn't much. They really need to be golf cart batteries to be useful in a cart... Got any pics of them?
Also, what cart are you putting them in? |

Re: Can I use these batteries?
I have a gas cart but have been comtemplating getting an electric cart for some time. I was thinking since these batteries were given to me I would try to find a cheap donor cart that needed batteries. Was hoping I could use all 6 of them for a total of 72 volts and build a powerhouse cart.

Not sure. They are Marathon 12V90 batteries. Made by exide.

Re: Can I use these batteries?
I would assume they are deep cycle batteries. They are used to power up a cell site in the event of a power outage.

Re: Can I use these batteries?
Ok, I have never really seen a battery like that, but my guess is that it would not do too well in a cart. The charging system is designed to charge wet cell deep cycle batteries, not a lead acid like this one...

Re: Can I use these batteries?
Yeah they aren't your every day battery. They are used to power cellular equipment during a power outage. Since the cellular equipment was 48 volts the thought of a golf cart immediately popped in my head. All of them show 12.6 volts on my fluke meter. Just thought they might work and since they were given to me thought I would ask. Thanks for the info.
