Controller upgrade
Has anyone put this package on there cart from Scottie B if so how big of a difference did it make from stock. I'm also looking to go swap motors and switch from 36 v to 48v when my batteries need to be changed.
Pkg #485 SPM-48500 Hunting Buggie 575 peak amp output, 36 or 48 volt operation, with a 400 amp 36-48v Super duty solenoid, Resistor and Diode, and safety Main Fuse included. My cart is a 1996 EZ-GO TXT series cart running on 25in tires with a rear back seat and H/D F/R switch |

Re: Controller upgrade
I just ordered it a couple of days ago. I have the same cart but with 22" tires, no HD FR switch and 4 ga wires. I bought the HD FR switch and 2 ga wires to go along with it. It hasn't arrived yet. Man... It's like December 23rd for me right now! I'm excited and anxious all at once!!!
I'll post again once I get it installed. |

Re: Controller upgrade
I just put the 486 kit on a 07 TXT with 25 inch tires and I love it. I used a 10 hp motor from D&D and converted to 48 volts. The cart wasn't running when I bought it, so I have nothing to compare.

Re: Controller upgrade
it won't have any more speed but it might have a little more torque off the line. when you at 48 volts to your existing motor that's when you'll get some speed and power

Re: Controller upgrade
Alright, so about the time I posted yesterday, the package was being delivered. I got home from work and there it was. After dinner and putting the kids to bed, I got to work. I changed out the cables and F/R switch last night, and changed out the controller and solenoid today followed by the digital battery gauge. I haven't gotten a chance to test it under heavy weight yet, but after a quick spin around the block it's evident that I have much more torque, and maybe a slight improvement in speed. I don't have a speedometer so I really couldn't tell you. I'm anxious to get some weight on the cart to see how much of a difference there is when it's loaded up.

Re: Controller upgrade
Ok, HOLY SMOKES! I loaded it up and was impressed. Before the upgrade, I had a major slow down going up a very small hill, 5 foot incline over 50 yards with about 800 lbs of total weight. It made it, but slowed way down. After the upgrade, I took it out to do some work. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous, but my worries were put to rest when she performed under pressure and load. I had the cart loaded down with about 1150 + lbs of people, feed, and tools. The hills, while not what I would call steep, had probably 40 feet of elevation change over 125 yards and rough terrain, no beaten trails. The cart performed. I only ran it 1/2 throttle at most because of the rough nature of the ground and it felt like it never struggled. I may need some heavy duty leaf springs in the future, but the torque the cart showed put all of my worry about getting a job done to rest.

Re: Controller upgrade
Awsome i will be ordering the kit later this week i put new HD leaf springs all the way around on mine and it helped with the sagging and leaning to one side. I also put a new HD F/R switch last weekend and changed out my free 2 gauge 5 strand cables to new 2 guage fine strand welding hopefully it wont burn up another HD F/R switch again.
