engine crane/drywall lift
i went to the tool rental place today to rent a drywall lift to install the 1/2 OSB on the ceiling of my shop and the guy said it was 120.00 a week! *** i said to my self thats a lot of cash, so i went back to the shop and sat down in the chair and after about 1/2 hr it came to me??? screwed two 2x4s to a 2x12x8 and there it was.
i'm sure it looks dumb but it works great |

Re: engine crane/drywall lift
I have installed drywall on the lid by myself ( enough times to know) so here is my 2 cents. One support in the center is not really enough support to keep the sheet from breaking or from drooping at the ends so much it is hard to see if you are lined up.....I suggest two supports. Go look at the drywall lifts again? You can find them on line. Also if you nail a 2x4 cleat on the wall 3/4 inch from the ceiling joists you can slip the edge of the sheet in there and tip her up & into place...now you got one end held....P>S> i know they are harder to handle but, 12 foot sheets will eliminate 50% of the butt joints which are the hardest to tape....Hope this helps
