Tire Changing Area!
When my dad passed away a couple years ago he had a decent Coats 1010 tire machine. He kept it outside with a cover over it. My mom said, if you want it you should take it home. I couldn't say no.
It's set in the corner of the garage since I got it. I used it a few times but it wasn't fastened down so was moving around a bit. I have a decent sized shed addition on the garage where I Have my air compressor and dust collection system. I also park my motorcycle in there. It has a gravel floor in it which I did over the dirt. I built a raised heavy deck for the dust collection and compressor and there was still plenty of extra room left so I built another large raised deck and mounted my tire machine on it. I also had an older manual tire machine with an air bead breaker. It will work good for ATV and garden tractor tires with a little adaption. I then bought a motorcycle tire changer so I can change my own motorcycle tires. I adapted it to mount on the top of the manual changer and it looks like it will work great once I make a few small changes so it works better to hold the wheels. One bolt and it mounts and dismounts from the manual changer. I added a couple shelves and a multi bin for holding all my tire stuff. The whole setup looks good and it should function very well once I get it completely set up. I do still need to make a couple No-Mar type tools for removing and installing tires on nice wheels. I tend to make rather than buy anything I can. I did all this so that I wouldn't have to continually fight changing any type tires or pay to have them done. I didn't get any pictures taken today but will get them and post them tomorrow. |

Sounds like you're going to open a tire shop!

Re: Tire Changing Area!
Not opening a tire shop, except for myself and friends. I just tend to buy the things I need (When I can) to make my projects just that much easier.
Here are pictures. First, the shed from the outside. I added a window for lighting. The right side door is hinged, but I have the gear to make it a slider and that's the plans in the future. Next is the air compressor and dust collector for my work shop. This is the main tire machine. Coats 1010 This is the old manual changer with air bead breaker. I have the motorcycle changer mounted on it's post. One bolt and it can be removed so I can do ATV and garden tractor tires on the old one. Here you can see the deck and work area. It should work out well. All I have left to do is build a bead breaker for motorcycle tires and I'll be good. |

Re: Tire Changing Area!
I am lucky that there were so many sheds and add on areas here. We got lucky buying this place and I'm slowly making it ours.
My next fab job will be a No-Mar type tire tool for removing motorcycle and ATV tires. The larger ATV tires can be removed and put back on using the 1010 Coats. It works pretty good too. |

looking good. I got on with a manual HF changer at the ranch for years. It did the job for carts and mowers but, I always wanted a real tire changer.

Re: Tire Changing Area!
Yep Scotty, I made due with a HF changer for small tires for a couple ATV tires and even used it to change both the tires on my big bike. It worked, but was a job. I've wanted to get these two machines set up in a work area for a couple years and now with the motorcycle changer I'll be set up.
Jake, you need to make a trip down some weekend or week day. If I'm home, I'm available to play. I know a place we can go ride close to me. We can play in the shop too if you want. put the cart on a trailer and get down here. I'm only a couple hours away! Now that I can change them, I need to find some taller tires for my cart if I can get a good deal on some. |
