Bought another metal working tool!
Well, I'm out of town and as always, I took a look at Craigslist before I left home. I made arrangements too take a look at a Metal cutting bandsaw. I've been wanting to buy one, but kept putting it off. I couldn't pass this one up.
I gave $75 for it and other than a minor adjustment to the blade guide rollers it works perfect. |

Good find!
I use a hand held band saw all the time. I couldn't live without it. I put it in a bench vise and use saw horses for finer or larger cuts. I like you, have been on the lookout for a nice horizontal stationary metal band saw. Looks like the on you picked up has a nice clamp and tensioner. Have fun cutting! |

Re: Bought another metal working tool!
I have a nice milwaukee hand held as well but wanted something I could just start and walk away. This one has the auto shut-off when the cut is finished too.
I one day will be happy with all the tools I have. LOL But, I always buy what I need...... but usually watch and get a good deal. Now I need to stop on my way home from Chicago at Harbor freight. I want to pick up a 20 ton press and get one of the metal brakes that Swag Offroad makes. I want the ability to bend heavier metals. I'd like to maybe make Aluminum luggage racks for motorcycles like I did for mine. But with cleaner bends. I also need to pick up a motorcycle jack while it's on sale. |

Yep Handiman. I travel often and when I'm on the road, or before I leave, I check the craigslist ads for the areas I'll be in and search for items I can use or turn for a $. I'm getting better at it and have made a little money which feeds the family and the obsession!

Re: Bought another metal working tool!
I picked up my saw. It needed a little cleaning and adjustment. I unloaded it at the house this morning and got it all done and working. The blade was supposed to be new but the cutting edge is almost as smooth as the top edge. I'll order some online I guess.
I also stopped at Harbor Freight on the way home and bought a 20 ton press. I also installed an air over hydraulic jack on it to make it easier to use. (No jacking) I bought the press with the idea to order a DIY kit to build a press brake that fits on the press. I'll be able to bend metal 19" long and up to 3/8" thick. I'll be able to really fab up parts for carts and lots of other things and making brackets and such will be easy as well. Here is the kit! Press brake! |

Re: Bought another metal working tool!
It should prove to be handy Ray......... First test will be another luggage rack with much better bends than the one on the bike that I made last summer.
