LED Shop Lighting
Anybody using LED shop lighting? I'm thinking about upgrading from my old fluorescent fixtures.

Re: LED Shop Lighting
I haven't gone out and specifically bought any LED lighting fixtures but I started biting the bullet and installing LED screw-in bulbs anywhere I can. I certainly find that they put out more light than expected and that the color of the light is very uniform in that many of the incandescent bulbs all claiming to be the same "soft white" were all over the place color wise. Inside I'm already very fond of the 2700 K soft white color....

Re: LED Shop Lighting
I changed 2 sets of 2x48" shop lights in my garage as well as some smaller 18" fluorescent tubes in closets to LED tubes.
I used these for the garage: I like the 5000k for work areas and the 3000k for inside. The 2700k was a little too yellow for my taste, but as teecro pointed out, the color temperature rating is not very consistent. The conversion was very simple, I did not have to change any of the "tombstone" holders, just remove the ballast and wire 120v to one side of the bulb. |

Diddo on the florescent conversion. Did two 4x2 fixtures over the benches in the shop and love the new brighter light.

Re: LED Shop Lighting
I just installed four fixtures yesterday in a 20x20 garage. A friend got them from Costco for $25/each. I am very happy with the result.

Re: LED Shop Lighting
Updated mine earlier this year. I put 8 in my 30x40 and it was easily 2x brighter. These were Feit brand 4100k and $29 each. Only disadvantage was these weren't configured for hardwire. They had plugs on them, so just converted the old light boxes to plugs. Very good quality and output, if you go outside at night after being in shop you can't see anything.

Thanks for the input guys. I can't wait to get started with the conversion and see the results of this improved lighting in that dark cave of a shop I have. I didn't think about Amazon Sergio. Thanks that's a great deal.

Re: LED Shop Lighting
I got mine at Sams Club when they were on sale. They are perfect for my application.
