That was only true with the first synthetics. What happened was synthetic oil would cause seals to expand. Then when someone would switch back to conventional the engine would leak all over.

Now it dosent matter if you switch from synthetic, but i dont think you would want to anyway.

The only true completely pure synthetics are:

Mobil 1
Royal Purple
AMS oil

Look it up on the internet. All the others will contain some type of conventional additives.

If money was not a factor, I would run down to Advance or O'reillys and get some Royal Purple or AMS oil. Both of these are top notch!!!

Awww, come on Spriddle. Just about the time I had my mind made up, you go and offer me more choices. And with a name like Royal Purple... oh geez..

Can I substitute the Royal Purple with some Crown Royal?

Since you found it on the internet, it absolutely, positively HAS to be true!

Castrol has SYNTEC Blend, and pure SYNTEC...which is pure SYNthetic.

I know it's just the name... I mean Royal Purple... sounds so sexy, doesn't it?

Crown Royale... well that should be kept in the on board cooler... just in case.

I'm sure you can put anything mentioned in this thread in there and you'll be A-OK. Maybe everything except the Jergens.

I think you're right NoNo... but every once in a while I like to surprise Big T and actually pretend I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the mechanical stuff. It's worth it for just that brief moment when he looks slightly stunned.

Here's what you say:

"Honey, I think Castrol SYNTEC would be the best choice for our cart because a guy on the forum named Know Know said it was. Plus, Mobil1 supports those crazy Venezuelans. "
