Default Cleaning Carburetors

Not sure how many people get dirty in here when tearing things apart, but if you do and you need a good cleaner that actually works

Gunk carburetor cleaner in the 2.8L Pail works wonders

I have been using it for quite the time and it works everytime

I picked up a Pressure washer yesterday im going through and i pulled the carb off because its been sitting for like 6 years in buddys back yard with no air cleaner on it and this is what i found.

Let the carb sit in the pail over night and Voila lol gonna pull the jets out after work and give it a thorough cleaning and hopefully she fires up!

Good idea. Looks nice and clean.

Another great thing to use is an old crock pot / slow cooker with pure undiluted cheap green antifreeze. I put mine in for 8 - 12 hours, remove and blow out. Sometimes people I know keep it on low for 24 hours. Just remember, however, if you use one for this, DO NOT EVER use it again for cooking food. Also do not put rubber parts in this and plastics can be damaged as well.

I've had good luck using an old water pick with simple green in it for getting into tight spots on parts too big or inconvenient to put in a bucket. As noted above, if you do this, then please do not use it on your teeth again!

Simple green, purple power and all of the degreasers work well but with old gasoline varnish i must say this stuff really took my by surprise..i mean it literally just melted this old gas away and didnt hurt any of the plastics that were still attached .. this is the gas that was hanging out of the fuel line

When I don't have time to soak them over night, I put a air hose in the bucket at low pressure for about an hr. works well. Do the same on gas tanks.

I did put a carb in the Gunk pail once and forgot about it! a year later, well lets just say it was not useable!

I’ve been using seafoam with good results on gummed up gas. Seems to melt it. I had a stihl chain saw that was carbon locked up, I removed the spark plug and put sea foam in and let it sit for 20 mins pulled it a few times the replaced with a new plug it fired right up.
