Default Marvel Mystery Oil

How many of you use Marvel Mystery Oil in your carts oil?
I have been using it for years in my 2006 riding mower.
I mix it 2 oz. to 5 gal. of gas.

You guys do know that it is a mineral oil / paint thinner blend. I don't think either of those items are too healthy for a modern engine. But Hey there is always some "magic" in snake oil.

I’ve never put it in an engine, but have been using it in air tools for 30 years.

A lot of R/C ers use it as their after run oil. The solvency of the Stoddard solvent dissolves any petro based crud and the mineral oil is a great low temp lube. It makes sense in air tools to keep them lubed when not in use. The solvent also used in prior days by dry cleaners has a boiling point of near 200 F keeps the mineral oil fluid and helps it penetrate small orifices.

If you want to test product stability 101. Shake the can, pour the liquid into a tall clear glass jar with a lid. Give it a week or so and see it stratifies. If it stays together put it in the fridge and back up to room temp 3 times. If it still stays together put it out on a hot day and see if it stays together for a couple of days.Pass all these and you have a nice shelf tested product. P.S. I tease Sho about shelf testing my speed equipment and so far they all have passed.

I've used MMO for years in my air tools but it works great to loosen a stuck lifter.

The Stoddard solvent is great for breaking up petro crud. Did you leave it in there for an extended period or just run it up and and drop it out ? Not sure on the late model tight clearance car engines that running it for very long would be healthy.

Hadn’t thought about the storage aspect. Used it day in-day out on air cylinders for automated steel band-saw, production use, among other pneumatic equipment. Cylinders, valves, etc. all lasted with no noticble wear, compared with a couple other lubes. Quit trying anything else once we started using Marvel Mystery Oil.
This type of saw, but much older ! All air-feed for stock advancement, and saw reset for subsequent cut. Sometimes for a week, almost nonstop, save for setting in another 20’ piece of material.
