leather..... chaps, apron, gloves, some type of hood/hat and BOOTS!!!! tied REALLY REALLY tight

reason i say that is because i use to help my uncle clean up old scrap steel from farmers and one day we where out in a feild cleaning up 2 combines and had some hot slag burn a hole in my jeans, roll down my leg from my knee and burn a hold in the side of my foot.... that same day my uncle had a peice go in his glove and burn his hand and cought his shirt on fire because some poped of and landed in the front pocket by his bic and smokes.... good thing is lighter didnt explode i'm normaly not one thats standing in front of the safty class but when it comes to hot metel from a tourch..... i try to be as safe as i can

I understand the clothing and eye protection aspect of it pretty well. My buddy was using a torch yesterday and caught his pants on fire.
The thing I am most concerned about is what should or shouldn't be done to ensure I don't blow my shop up? Isn't the acetelyne suppose to be operated above 1500 psi to get propper heat? J/K

you will spend more on a set of tanks than a set of torches. I use safety glasses that are tinted, you might look into a good shop apron or a welders apron also.

If you have a Tractor Supply store near you, they carry the tanks and gas. The first time you get the gas from them you pay some deposit for the tank, after that, you just drop off your empty tank, pick up a full one and pay for the gas only.

I agree, screw the torch and buy a plasma cutter,

Well easier said then done I guess, but I have a Miller plasma cutter and that thing is one of the coolist tools I have ever had, well compared to the tig welder (thats a miller too)

Oh what an expensive hobby I have gotten myself into.

could be worse, I could collect something like pencil erasers,

But wait, then I would be on a eraser forum, And that can't be good could it?

Oh well, I guess a torch is still a good tool to have, mine has cob webs on it

A complete shop must have a set of torches and a plasma cutter. I love the
plasma as well.
