Cutting torch

Northern Tool has this same torch for $279. What problems would a cheaper torch have? Would this one be good enough for a home shop? |

Re: Cutting torch
Probably last along time for light duty and if cared for. The hoses don’t
look very long but should be ok. |

Re: Cutting torch
my uncle had that EXACT same torch..... he liked his alot said it cut great and never had a prob with it.... i bought it from him for 100 bux... turned around and sold it to his step son for 150 the same day...
only thing he said he didnt care about that "kit" is the fact that it has a short cutting head and the hoses are short...... (hes use to useing a 2 foot long head and 100 foot of hose) |

Re: Cutting torch
I ordered one off ebay. I can't wait to try it out. How much does it normally run to rent and fill oxygen and acetylene tanks? Is it better to buy one?

Re: Cutting torch
I don't know what it would be where you are at but I used to rent some from the local car quest in town and they were 5.95 a month plus the cost of the gas. I went and bought my own after a few months. The only issue with having your own is ever so many years they have got to be sent off(unless you have a local place to do it) and be pressure tested again for approval before they will fill them...

Re: Cutting torch
Some places will just swap you tanks even if you own them, that way you always have a good up to date one.

Re: Cutting torch
Yey got my torch today. Any safety tips for a beginner? I've been using a torch at welding class for the past 4 months but a refresher is always nice.

Re: Cutting torch
Break it in on the Workhorse frame.
Not necessarily a welding helmet or anything, but I would invest in a pair of some sort of safety goggles. Metal flies! |
