HULU kicks arse. Thats what I do when theres bad weather. I can watch any show I want whenever I want on Hulu. You could take it a step further and build an HTPC and hook it up to your TV in the shop or even a projector for a big screen and watch video.

Thanks for the help guys. I dont want cable anymore. Like they say most tv shows can be watched online for free, and internet in the shop would be distracting enough thanks to bgw....now do I want to go wireless or the outdoor ethernet cable way? I honestly feel more confident in running an ethernet cable underground than wireless but I like the idea of wireless much better.

Wireless, will definitely be an easier install for you.. I thought about this a little more last night.. Are you exactly 300' away or is it 300' from you current router (linkysis/what ever you have) to the shop. Do you have neighbors close by? I don't think you do by the pics you have provided. I can help you out more if needed, I will pm you my number.

Wireless will be easier than you think...trust me. If you can get it to work in your house all you have to do is get an antenna and point it and your set. It's that easy. Most times all you gotta do is plug it up and itll work...some might take some fiddling.I use WRT54G and use aftermarket firmware on all mine. You dont Have to use aftermarket firmware but you can up the power output if your having signal issues with it. You can't with the stock firmware.

The best thing to do is get your Modems model number etc and google it along with the router of your choice and more than likely someone has a setup guide already done. For example....google 660E modem + WRT54G etc.

Muaythia and I use to do a lot of high end industrial wireless networking...Video over Wifi..actually, wireless remote monitoring systems. All kinds of industrail type wireless stuff. Built some stuff for British Military Services...N.A.T.O. I'll never do that again unless the price is 3 times the cost plus 100%. Now I know one reason things for the government cost so much. Whats bad is the U.S. is not near as bad as the Brits. Every nut, bolt...everything has to be identicle, every weld perfect. I hired a welder...well, they noticed the welds looked different and didn't like it. I ended up having to weld them all myself.....crazy stuff. I can understand though...these thing were over in IRAQ protecting our boys. Thats about all I can say about that.

I can pick up wireless routers/AP's in an 11-12 mile radius from the house using a 54G. one time we were at the lake....I hooked up one the "more powerful" radios I happened to have along with a 24 DB antenna. The antennas 3 times bigger than a sat dish...next thing I know the RV parks website/security guy comes beating on our door at 2 or 3 AM saying I took out the parks security system and webserver with my wireless stuff. They had everything on wireless. I overpowered him.

Well....I had no idea the dude was using his PC as the parks webserver and wireless surveillance system.

Extreme...if you decide to go wireless and figure you might one day flash it with aftermarket firmware make sure you get a model that is compatible. You can get "pre-flashed" routers on ebay. The only drawback to aftermarket firmware is of coarse no warrantee after tha fact. You may not need it....I just like all the extra features you get with it. You can even code your own apps and add them in the firware...just all kinds of stuff. The aftermarket firmware is FREE..(I think there are a couple that you can pay for if you want)

DD-WRT is a good one, tomato and some others. One other thing you can do....actually pretty slick. You can piggy back a VOIP router and have telephone in the shop. What you have to do is pick up 2 WRT's, one is at home, the other is in the shop and a set of patch antennas. The shop router acts as the "Client" to the home router, you then plug in a VOIP router/hardware into the client side....Whala...you have VOIP in the shop with no wires. (not as "simple" as that...you'll have to set things up in the routers) Theres a few good cheap VOIP providers....no, "Majic Jack" isn't one of them.

A wireless router is a good solution for internet access, but not tv. You may be able to get coaxial cable suitable for burial (radio shack?) and install your own ends, it's not hard at all. Doing this would also require an additional cable tv box which provides internet access through an ethernet port (this is how mine are set up). That way you could have tv and internet in your shop.
