Garage lights
We we have been redoing our living room and kitchen for the past several month's and my wife has changed about everything in them out. She took down the track lighting we installed over the fire place years ago and put in new drop down lighting for the new mantel we are having built.
So I took the track out to the garage because I have been needing some kind of light for when I'm working on the truck with the hood up. I normally back the truck into the garage so with the garage door up I have no lights because of the door. So this is what I came up with. On the roller of the door frame there is a peice of angle so I drilled 3 holes and secured the track lighting. I then had a old drop cord that had been cut in half so I wired it up to plug it in the wall when I need lights. |

Re: Garage lights
Great Idea Andy! I've had to use drop lights for years when working under the hood of my vehicles even when pulled into the garage the hood always blocks the light too.

Re: Garage lights
You mean you guys don't duct tape flashlights to the underside of the garage door? Man I've been doing that for years.....guess I should take a lesson from you guys! LOL

Re: Garage lights
Perfect!Get another track-section and put a couple on the other side,then you'll need sunglasses!I've got double-overheads in my garage,I put a shop-lite in between the 2 doors,made a huge difference.

Re: Garage lights
I've had the privilege to put up a few warehouses over the years, 30 to 60 dock type and have had a few dock lights seamed to fall into my truck. Have them on both sides of every door.;)

Re: Garage lights
Here is the latest addition for the garage lighting. I have a retrackable drop light hanging between the 2 trucks. I burn myself just about everytime I use the dang thing. Not anymore.
I wired a old kitchen light up to slide under the truck with me now. |

Re: Garage lights
I've got 2 single-bulb 4ft. flourescents that i used to lay on the floor under a truck. They have a square metal-box enclosure that encloses the entire unit and extends past the bulb about 3 inches.Always worked great for late-nite driveway-repairs!
