Separating windshield from the hinge?
Hi all!
I'm planning to chop my roof by 5", so it will require that I lower my windshield as well. Ideally I would like to take it out of the windshield above the hinge since the bottom has already been cut shorter and the top has the rubber clamps to hold it on the frame when in the up position. Is there a way to easily remove the window from the hinge without damaging it, and what kind of adhesive can be used to put it back on? It seems to be on there pretty good. Re: Separating windshield from the hinge?
It's not coming off the wind shield with out cutting it. Cut the hinge out, and put a new plastic hinge back on. You could always cut the hinge out and reuse it. Glue it back on. I wouldn't like the way it would look. That's just me. I would put a new one on

I don't how it would work on a windshield, but if you have one to experiment on.
Try a heat gun. I use one for adhesive removal more than anything else. If the adhesive's soften temp is lower than the windshield, it should work. You can use a wet towel to protect windshield from heat. |
