How everybody heats there garage
Just wanting to see everyone's idea's. I had a store bought Magic Heater, burned out after about 3 years in my old garage. Decided to build my own magic heater out of 1/4" steel plate and thick wall pipe. Brought my cart working area from freezing to short sleeve shirt work area in about 30 mins in a 30x30.

Tagging along... I have a brand new 24X36 with no insulation, and too many projects to wait for warmer weather...

Re: How everybody heats there garage
I use a propane 175K BTU that hangs from the rafters. I keep the thermostat set on 42 unless I'm going to be out there awhile to keep the water pipes from freezing. I also have a 35K BTU for back up heat in the house.

Nice work Corkscrew. That 1/4" should hold heat quite well.

Re: How everybody heats there garage
Since I have a pole barn with one wall, I stick this on me if I have to work in the cold. The only deal is that kerosene is ridiculously expensive here! This being a problem for me, I'll usually just wait a day or two, and it will warm back up!

Re: How everybody heats there garage
I really wish I could put in a wood stove or something but I use a 5 pound propane bottle with a cheapo harbor freight heater sitting on it. It does the job I suppose but it doesn't get my garage up to the temp I like fast enough, though it does do better then the kerosene heater I used to use, and cheaper to run too.
