89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
Jumped under my cart for the first time last weekend to change the oil and noticed a pretty frayed brake cable on one side. I've ordered the replacement part:
http://www.golfcartking.com/Club-Car...022-(4216).htm From my very, very simple inspection it looks pretty straight forward, but does anyone have any reference material they can point me towards or words of wisdom? |

Re: 89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
It is very straight forward. I just replaced both brake cables on my '87 about a month ago. Post up here if you run into any issues.

Re: 89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
Thank you sir.
And took off the governor last weekend too and it flies now... a little to well actually. Putting it back on but with a little more slack on it. |

You never wrote back in the other thread, I was wondering how that went.

Re: 89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
I had to change one this summer also. Very straight forward. The only question I remember is which way the thicker/sleeved end went. I decided to put it near the wheel thinking that it was more likely to need the additional protection on that end.

Re: 89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
Awesome, hadn't noticed there was a more protected end.
The previous owner, my bro in law, used and abused the access panel somehow and used some metal wire contraption to keep it kind of in place. I've got a new access panel, any idea what type and size of screw/nut/bolt/whatever would be best to secure it? |

Re: 89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
Are you talking about the two screw holes on the body that hold that plastic panel on at the back? Behind the seat?

Re: 89 DS Brake Cable Replacement
I'm pretty sure mine are machine screws. Not sure what size. But the rear body on my cart is from a '93-up cart, and from what I understand there are slight differences in the access panel (I heard they're not interchangeable).
