Default 1996 Carryall I clutch removal

My drive clutch does not move freely as the engine rpm's go up and down. Would like to remove the clutch from crankshaft for inspection / repair. My Carryall service manual implies the clutch can be removed without removing (or moving engine) from it's mounts.

It looks like the space between clutch and cart frame is too close to remove the clutch with engine in normal location. Am I missing something? Or do I just need to bit the bullet and remove engine and clutch as a unit? Then remove the drive clutch.

Thanks
Bob

I think it can be done. I was able to remove mine but I have a 6" lift. It still has the leaf spring in the way a little but I was able to get it out.

You guys were right! There is just enough room between the end of engine crankshaft and bolt on front spring shackle for the clutch assembly to be lifted out. The stub (tapered) end of the crankshaft was shorter than I had expected.

I did have to make a puller by grinding the threads off of a 3/8 x 6 inch bolt. I cut this bolt so it was ~ 5 inches long. Inserted it into the hole in the clutch so it bottomed in the crankshaft center hole. Then applied pressure with a 7/16 -20thr x 2 inch bolt in the outboard end of the clutch assembly. Used impact wrench with 50 psig air supply and clutch popped free.

Thanks for stopping me from moving the engine!
