2009 Precedent upgrades
Hey guys,
Doing my first cart upgrade. I have 2 major things I want to do. First, I want to put some 14" wheels on it. Second, I want an awesome stereo. I am doing some other stuff also but, these 2 Things I would appreciate some help figuring out. Backround, mid 40's, my friends and I all have carts that we use on our local golf course, I believe that we are all going through some type of mid life crisis, and I want to have the best cart, lol! My main questions, do I want low profile tires? If I do go with the low profiles, how lift would I need? Stereo, Is there anywhere to put a subwoofer on a functional cart? I would like a bad *** stereo with at least 4 speakers, maybe 6, and a subwoofer. I am going to nee a couple amps. Where is the best place to put amps, subwoofer and speakers? Any input or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, this reminds me of when I built my house, just want to do it right! |

Re: 2009 Precedent upgrades
hi mike as far as your stereo i can tell you how i did mine. i went with an overhead mount for the head unit that also holds 2 6" speakers. in the rear i drilled holes and mounted 2 speakers into the rear roof supports. the speakers wont fit all the way in there so i had to make spacers to have them stick out some. i think its 1 inch or so. basically just a ring with bolt holes to mount the speakers into. i used a pyle marine 10" sub that is sealed and includes the amp for it. i think the whole piece is about 16"x 12"x 3" (dont quote me that, total guess, but its smallish). i mounted mine under the rear flip seat of course since u golf in the cart you may not have that area but the unit is small enough to fit alot of places. im not real happy with the overhead mount, it rattles ALOT when driving, but i did keep all of my storage areas, the stereo is loud enough to drown the rattle out. i ran all my wires thru the front roof supports so it looks pretty clean. best of luck and post pictures

Re: 2009 Precedent upgrades
Thanks for the reply.....That helps. I think I can maybe use some type of 3M product to help with the rattle noise. I was thinking of doing the over head mount to save the storage space. Looks like I might need to sacrifice my basket for the sub but not a huge deal (I have a mounted cooler!) Thanks again, I will post pics, wont be for a few weeks though.

As far as the stereo... I mounted the head unit in the dash, 2 small subs below the front seat and 2 4-ways behind the front seat. It sounds really good for not having an amp.

Re: 2009 Precedent upgrades
As far as lift and tires... I prefer my 10" wheels over the 14"s that came on my cart. The taller side wall tires give a smoother ride and flex more when aired down for tougher trails. Plus, I just prefer the fat tire look over the big hoops.
