Default 1999 Club Car DS with a blown up FE290...what do I do with it?

I just bought a 99 club car ds with a blown motor...seriously there is a hole in the bottom of the block. Previous owner said he had it bored out by a local machine shop.

I eventually would like to maybe do some things to it however right now i just want to get it running as inexpensively as possible. I have too many projects including a ezgo electric that is a bigger project then this one.

I would like to lift it and add a back seat...will an fe290 be strong enough to do that with? Should I try and find an fe350 or fe400?

Anyone have one they want to sell? I guess im just not sure which way to tackle powering this cart so im looking for advice.

Thanks

the 290s will pull 23 tall tires decent. how big is the hole. Might be able to patch it if its small enough

Hi Marty,

I see that you are from NY. Where abouts? The cart you are talking about, it isn't that blue one from CL, is it?

Yeah he said he had someone else that was going to look at it if i didnt want it. I picked this one up as the ezgo electric one i have will take longer and more money to get running so i saw this gas one and figured i could get it running easier.

Do you have any idea of where i could find a motor for this thing around central ny? Or should I just keep watching ebay? Lol im not a small engine guy but theres a huge hole in the bottom corner of the block so im guessing im going to need to replace the whole engine.

Hoenstly, I don't have any idea. There are a few "shops" around here, but they are mainly deal in used EZGO and Yamaha carts. There was a guy in Durhamville who owned a golf course and sold / serviced golf carts. He might have something, but I don't know if he is still around. He used to post on CL a lot, but I haven't seen a post from him in over a year

Your best bet would either be ebay or here (every once in a while something pops up)
