92 DS runs well when hand operating carb, but when using pedal pressure, it dies
Hello all,
I have a 92 Ds. I got this for free from a lumber yard that went out of business. It was not running when I got it. So far, I have disassembled the body to get all the crud off of it, removed and cleaned carb, and removed and cleaned all grounds (big stuff). The battery tested good, but was not turning the starter. I could hear the solenoid kick, but no rotation. Once I cleaned all the grounds, then I finally got it to turn over. It took some starting fluid and a drain of the bowl to get the engine firing. It was running rough, so I removed the carb, cleaned it all up and put it back together. After that it was running great. However I was hand opening the carb to get the motor up to speed. However, when I used the pedal it would kill the motor. Because the shifter cable is removed from the frame, the tranny is in neutral even though I have it switched electrically forward. I have run through the wiring and as far as I can tell all looks correct, per diagram. The starter is new, according to the lumber yard. Once I start up, my voltage is removed from F2 on the starter. However, when I depress the pedal, I again get 12.5 volts on F2 which seems to pit the starter's rotation against that of the engine. Any help would be awesome. |
