Backfire problem
i have a 06 precedent with a fe350 that when I give it full throttle it bogs down and sometimes backfires. I also have trouble running the cart at low speed. I changed spark plug and fuel filter along with new fuel with no success. This is my first cart and still learning. Please help a rookie, thanks

Re: Backfire problem
Sounds like lack of air flow. Maybe try taking the air filter off and run it. This will lean it out so don't run it forever that way. See if it runs better or worse. Check exhaust pipe and muffler for obstructions. Start with these basics and maybe in the meantime someone with more knowledge of the gas CC's will give you some advice.

Re: Backfire problem
It sounds like you're off to a good start, but more detail is needed.
Did the old plug's electrode look wet and black? When it has trouble at low speeds, does apply the choke make thing better or worse? |

Re: Backfire problem
I tried removing air filter cover and ran it for a while didn't seem to ru any better. The old plug didn't look bad but changed it anyway.i choked it at all speeds and it bogged down.

Re: Backfire problem
Check the oil and make sure there is no gasoline in the oil. Clean the carburetor really good. Make sure the jets are spotless. What color was the plug's electrode? Black, white, wet or dry?

Re: Backfire problem
The plug was clean and dry. I'll check the oil for gas. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Backfire problem
Would the fact that I put a 6" lift kit on make a difference?

Re: Backfire problem
It's a possibility. Lifting the cart puts the motor at a good slant. That could change fuel level in the carb bowl. Not sure how much of a difference.
My cart didn't run any different after I installed a 6" lift. It also changes the oil reading level on the dipstick. |
