Default Is a 6" lift with 14" wheels ok for a stock gas ds?

I just bought a ds cart that has had the motor just rebuilt, runs great, all stock. I'm about to sink some money into it and want a 6" lift with 14"wheels.

I don't know much about how the motors and gears work, and what they can handle. Would that combination put a strain or otherwise be harmful to the motor?

the question that needs to be asked is what diameter tires? everyone says what inch wheel and really that has nothing to do with it.

The ones at the shop today were 22 or 23 I'm thinking. It's all terrains. I'll check for sure tomorrow.

Edit, pretty sure 23"

Whats your intention with the cart? Cruising on the street or off road/work?

Stock gears and stock motor should do good then. I have my clubcar on 22" tires with 6" lift and when it had the stock fe290 it did ok. Not nearly as fun as the v-twin in it now but it was usable offroad WITH the driven clutch spring tightened up. On road it was good.

mine performs good with 23" tires - no screamer but actually goes up hills better than I thought it would.

What kind of on road mph are you getting with a motor swap?

TJL, how do you achieve this tighter driven clutch ?
After having moved to a taller tire, I would happily give up some top speed in the interest of a little better acceleration.
Thx
Mike

http://krisdillon.com/buggy/

This website covers it well. Your just tightening the spring up in the driven clutch. Lets the motor get to a higher rpm before it shifts so the motor can make more power. Also you should still keep your top speed.

As far as my top speed it hasnt changed much. My max rpm is still around 4k(for now) and hp doesnt matter really, higher rpm is higher top speed, 9hp or 90hp.
