Default New guy here..95 ds, choke problem?

Hey guys, I've been lurking here for a few days, recently purchased a non-running 95 gas club car. The cart has the Kawasaki 290 engine in it.

I brought he cart home, drained the bowl of the carb, and put some fresh gas in, and it would just spin and spin over but never take off. I tried using the choke, but it didn't seem to make a difference, so I took the intake tube loose and manually choked the engine and as soon as I did, it fired right off.

I warmed the cart up for a few laps around the yard manually choking it, then put everything back together and it ran fine the rest of the evening.

I guess my question is, are they always this cold natured, or should I be looking for a problem to fix? It doesn't seem right to have to choke it that much to warm it up, but again I am a new cart owner!

Thanks for any tips guys, looking forward to tinkering with my new toy!

you have an air leak . it could be one of gaskets between carb and engine. could be air box is not latched properly .could be small hose from valve cover to carb or large hose from carb to air box.

I'm having another issue and not sure I want to start a new thread just for a quick answer.

My issue is that I adjusted the gas pedal linkage as per the instructions in the speed sticky, and my cart constantly runs now in maintenance mode. I didn't have time to readjust it, but I think it's just adjusted too far out, can anyone confirm my theory?

And the whole thing with the four zip ties is confusing me I just can't seem to understand where and what to use four zip ties on..

Thanks again.

If it is ideling that it is possible its adjusted to far. Take off the black box cover and see if the micro switches are engaged with the pedal all the way up.

The micro switches are just barely engaged when the pedal is at full rest, I suppose that's a guarantee that the rod is adjusted too far out. I did adjust the pedal spring tensioner nut all the way out too.
