Finally got my golf cart
well just brought home my new toy it is a 1993 club car, this is my first golf cart and i have a few questions: the cart runs 13 mph on gps and of course i want more speed, i read the sticky on how to speed up your club car but dont understand this part:
"Put 3 on the spring in equally spaced increments. Have a friend hold the gas pedal to the floor in maintenance mode. Tighten each zip tie equally until the engine shuts down. You have two options at this point: either cut the zip ties and put new ones on SLIGHTLY looser, or put a small amount of cable back into the black box." what is maintenance mode, and how do i get the cart in it? does anyone have any pics of the zip tie configuration in this step they can post? If i do this and leave the revlimiter in place will i gain anything and will i still hurt the motor? what is the difference in this and what it states later about the governor arm on the transaxle? hope these arent stupid questions just trying to understand before i start modifying thanks for you help |

Re: Finally got my golf cart
Not everyone who reads this is qualified to give advice on the subject....try to be a little patient. Have you tried the zip ties? That would be your best bet. Basically they use 3 zip ties so they can be evenly spaced around the spring for even pressure. They are tightened to compress the spring slowly until the desired effect is achieved...

Re: Finally got my golf cart
I used 2 ties... I have the ties pinched between the throttle cable ball, and the spring, so it wont relocate or bind...
I do have my limiter disconected, but I used a tach to set my desired RPM, so I won't have problems of over-reving and valve float! (aprox. 42-4400 RPM in maintenance mode) |

CC's are governed by ground speed at the transaxle, not solely by engine RPM's (Like a lawnmower engine is!) Just remember... try to keep the engine from going over 4400 RPM's for extended periods. engine damage, and your safety will become an issue! |

with 22" tires on my buddies FE290, it got him 22mph @ 4200 rpm's Just a note: If you go above 3900 rpm's, without your limiter disconnected, your engine will shut down and then fire back up when the rpm's come back within limits... this also will cause damage to your engine, if done excessively! |
