Default Carryall 272 engine swap questions

Hey all I got a few questions regarding swapping out the stock engine for a 23hp vanguard. I found a used 23hp for $250, seems like a steal. It's just missing the starter motor. I'm told it's a ccw rotation viewed from the shaft end which would mean I would have to mount the engine backwards and use a jack shaft setup.
Is there enough room in the carryall to do this?
Could I use the stock clutch for the time being until I could upgrade to the comet?
Is there any other concerns I should have?

I've tried to find dimensions online for the fe400 motor to try and compare it to the 23hp. My cart is 3 hours away at the lake so I can't take measurements myself unless I take a trip down there.

Any help would be great, thanks.

FE400 Dimensions

L x W x H mm = 378 x 422 x 459

L x W x H inches = 14.88 x 16.61 x 18.07

The cart is a 2002.

Ye I'm up in Canada, I could see the shipping being tough. If I do the swap I'd probably just sell the 400. She runs good just doesn't have the torque I need for pulling my little fishing boat up the hills. Still on the fence about picking up the 23hp, it's used so not sure if I may be getting a lemon. Hard to pass on the price though, $250 CAD sure beats $2000.

Whats the cons to mounting the engine normally and using revere as forward and forward as reverse? It would be a lot easier then messin around with a jack shaft setup.
I use my cart to puts around the campground, maybe haul wood/Rock/dirt or whatever and towing my fishing boat around.
Thanks for all the help guys
