Unhappy Butterfly not closing/Backfire

Okay I to still have backfire issue on deceleration n I still have a partially open butterfly that I cant seem to get to close. Lockman and I have discussed this extensively and I have tried several things to try to get this to close and I actually have a new carb coming (apparently on a really slow boat) but I would really like to figure this carb out. I cant go back to key start because the *** thing idles so high when a key start. So y'all help me go over it again because I got some payroll and paperwork to do in the shop in the morning and the rest of the day to try and figure this cart out

Hi Eric!

We've discussed a LOT of things about your 96 Carryall 1,
  • Key start/Pedal start
  • Counter clockwise FE290 replaced with a Clockwise FE350
  • Engine dying on bumpy paths
  • Governor rod in transaxle frozen solid

But, I don't remember this one!

I've only have 2 things,
~ Did you try to adjust your throttle cable sheave at the Electrical Components Box like I suggested?
~ And, did your get a chance to browse through the 95/96 DS manual I posted in your other thread?
(it's amazingly detailed compared to the manuals CC is printing now!)

Hopefully someone else will chime in if I missed something!

That is the transaxle out of an electric CC. Do you have a two piece transaxle (electric transaxle with a gear box bolted on) or a one piece (all one casing)?

The old two piece transaxles were paired with the CCW engines and the one pieces were paired with the newer CW engines. You want to look for the 1997+ one piece rear end

That's pretty much the same transaxle you already have!

It looks like an 85 to 91 electric, which (from what I understand) is the same as yours,
but, yours has a transmission in place of an electric motor!

You'll need a "unitized" (one piece) transaxle like this one! (mine)

The throttle cable return spring on my cart was stretched out and not closing my carb. Did you check that?

That's pretty much the conclusion I came to lol, I realized after looking at pictures of new ones mine was not even close to looking like them. I will order a new one(they want like $12 for the dang thing) but anyway I played with the hacked up one and I do have it to where it will pull it close which is enough to allow me to take it back to a key start which in turn gives me the low speed control I like. To me there is no middle ground to a peddle start I could never really creep or hold at a stop sign to cross a road. Now I have all that control back. It barley idles but that's what I prefer. There are those who are club car purest who will tell me they were never intended to run in this way but to me it is a tool that I spend a lot of time on during the week and I like it this way much less to go wrong
