Welcome to BGW!

You'll have to be a little more specific about what "type" of cart you have!
DS, Carryall, Villager 4/6, Transporter... the first letters and 4 numbers of your serial number will help!

the tag is on the upper foot rail, just below the passenger glove box...

"Most" Club Cars are pedal start, and the engine won't even turn over in neutral!
OR... if it's in maintenance mode, it will run in neutral, but not in forward or reverse for safety reasons.

IF... it's a key start cart, will it start in forward or reverse?
or the shifter just won't move when in neutral?

Judys cart is a DS AG9936-798703, Key Start cart, will start in forward and reverse and neutral, will not shift in forward or reverse with engine running.

AG is a standard DS "pedal start" cart, so I'll take a guess that it was wired to start with the key,
So it may be difficult for some of us to help without some "in depth" info!
but, I'll do my best to try to help...

Have you replaced the drive belt recently?
(in most cases, a drive belt that's too tight will keep the clutches turning while idling, and it won't shift properly)

Belt could be too tight, idler bearing in the drive clutch could be locked up, or it could be idling too high.

Belts are about seven months old, All electrical wire was replaced after a complete melt down , Ignition switch, light switch and light wires have been replaced, all worked great until about 2 weeks ago. thanks greatly
