Default KF82 putters in forward, great in reverse

My 89 clubcar will not develop power in forward. It will eventually develop full speed if i start on a flat or slight downhill. It will hillclimb in reverse, great power and positive driveline engagement. The belts are new. The cart sat idle for over a decade but has since run fine. It was recently tweeked by the engine pros at Ladds (and they will see it again if necessary) however, I'd rather fix it if possible. Ive included the detail about recent pro service checkout to help eliminate things such a tech would surely catch. Saw a similar post from long ago that ended without an answer.
Thanks

When you run the cart in both FWD and REV does the belt rise up in the drive clutch (the one on the motor) and sink down into the driven clutch (the one on the axle)?

I jacked up the rear of the cart and ran it in both fwd and rev. The belt rises to the top of the drive clutch and to the same level on the driven clutch in both F&R.
I can add more information. Yesterday the cart would not climb a very slight rise. The engine runs but slowly and I was able to skateboard the cart holding the pedal to the floor with my right foot while pushing the ground with my left. Once it gained some momentum, it slowly climbed to full speed.
My property is a bit rough so I hate to speed over it but I hate worse the cart creeping to a standstill with the engine still turning.
Lastly, for now, when I rescued the cart, I installed a 4 inch lift, 10 inch wheels, a new front end suspension and I added a 2 inch piece of square tube to the engine cradle tab to reduce the 4 inch change of engine cradle slope to two inches. Maybe the info is irrelevant; however, I don't want to handicap you by withholding something my ignorance tells me is not pertinent.

When the engine creeps to a standstill is the belt still moving with the clutches? Maybe your belt is slipping. Weird that you would not have the issue in FWD but not REV.

Sorry for the delay. I figured a respose should have content. I did not try to view the belt under pressure because the issue is lack of engine rpm. The engine runs fine in reverse always. It runs fine in forward if there is little or no load. If I drive it in forward I can build speed on level or declining ground. Once at speed it acts fine until I encounter an incline. If it is steep enough or gradual and long enough it will sputter to a stop and then sputter until I help it move. I tried opening the carb a quarter turn, uncertain of improvement. I tried increasing the rpm by adjusting the throttle cable. No change.

Wow that is weird. It sounds like there's an increased load on your motor in FWD but not REV. But what? I'm stumped. I'd have to see it in person. If any light bulbs come on in my head I'll let you know.

Thank you. I appreciate your experienced attention. You not having a ready answer gives me some confidence that I have not missed something obvious to club car gurus. My next test will be to open the carb more. With the lower gear for reverse, it may be that the motor load is less to cover the same ground so it can get by with a lower max fuel input. If no joy, it goes to the shop...and I will post what the service tech found and fixed.

Default Re: KF82 putters in forward, great in reverse SOLVED

It's fixed! You knew where to look but I looked right at it and failed to see. When I raised the rear end and ran it in fwd and rev I was looking for a difference between how the belt appeared when being run in each direction. The belt did rise to the top of the drive clutch in fwd and rev. The belt also acted the same in both directions on the driven clutch: it dropped down about an inch and a quarter from the top. So, failing to see a difference, I moved on. I'm sure you already see....
By failing to drop all the way down the driven clutch, the circumstances were a bit like trying to start in third gear. It ran fine in reverse because of the lower gear ratio in reverse. It stalled the engine when under any low rpm load in fwd. So, I could nurse it up to speed on a flat, skateboard it up to speed on a slope or start it on a downslope. I suppose the weak power once at speed when presented with a slope could be the binding of the overtensioned belt (since it must have been under quite a bit of pressure when maxed on the drive clutch but still more than halfway up the driven clutch.)
The cart sat in the weather for 10 years before coming to me. The clutches worked fine when I got the engine running (I remember being amazed.) It seems that after some running, the corrosion and rust in the driven clutch accumulated and fouled the travel of the plate. New driven clutch and it runs great. Thank you for your time, I appreciate the clue you provided even though I missed it.
