Default 06 CC DS Loses spark after 5 mins

My 06 ds quits running after about 5-10 minutes of driving. I'm thinking its the coil. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem before I spend
140$ on a new coil.

check the rpm limiter first. It's the black plastic box just above the oil drain plug. There is a metal "strap" holding the plastic box in place and the bolt on the passenger side of that strap has a wire that it holds down (ground lead). Take that wire loose, wrap a little electrical tape around it if you need to - to keep it from grounding out on anything. Then see if that keeps it from shutting down. If that cures your problem, then the rpm limiter is grounding out your ignition. The part cost's $250+, but leaving it with the ground disconnected is free! You loose the function of the limiter, but still have the mechanical governor to keep you from over-reving the engine. On the other hand if it doesn't seem to make a difference then yes it's the coil.

That was the first thing I tried and still shut down on me after 5-10 minutes. So it almost has to be the coil right?

That's correct. We have the OEM Kawasaki coils in stock. $89

Is there a way to test the coil?

I eliminated the rpm limiter from the system and verified I had voltage to the coil. I replaced the coil and problem solved.
