Default 2005 Precedent Rear Seat Install

http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225...16953899_1.jpg

Hello,

I just picked up a 2005 Precedent that I would like to put a rear flip seat on, and it has these thick plastic posts on the rear to support the roof.

In the picture that I linked above, they moved the seat rearward, but then it covers the footboard making it basically useless. Does that plastic come off leaving the normal metal poles?

Thanks,

Brandon

Seats are made in 2 ways, one way uses the existing roof supports as shown in your photo, another type includes new metal supports that replace the stock plastic. There is no metal in the plastic supports.

I think I might have gotten lucky and ordered the correct seat for the plastic pillars. The install went smooth with the exception of the mount for the upper seat pad. It was designed to use the bolts that used to hold the basket on. Those bolts only threaded into plastic and tore out the first time the seat was used. I fixed the situation by opening up an access hole on the inside of the pillar to get nuts and washers started on the bottom of a 1/4-20 bolt. It seems pretty secure now, and the access holes are hardly noticeable.
