Solenoid question for 93 DS
I have been having an intermittent problem with my 93 DS turning over. Was hearing the relays click when I press the pedal but no voltage on the starter side of the solenoid. I ordered a cheap one from Ebay and when I removed from the package I compared to the old installed one. The new one had a raised "S" and "I" on the smaller bolts. The old one had no letters to show any difference in where the orange and blue wires are attached. Does it matter which wire goes to the "S" and "I" connections, if so which one goes where??

Re: Solenoid question for 93 DS
Or better yet can a solenoid be hooked up either way as it looks the same with the small and large posts??

Re: Solenoid question for 93 DS
I think it should work either way, as long as you hook the large wires to the large terminals and the small wires to the small terminals.
I did read that the cheap solenoids that can be found are too light duty for use on a cart and will burn up quickly. |

Re: Solenoid question for 93 DS
Thanks Brandon for the reply, I was pretty sure as you said the large and small wires are hooked to the large and small terminals it should not matter. Just seems like it did die a quick death...

Re: Solenoid question for 93 DS
A solenoid with the "S" and "I" markings sounds like a old Ford starter solenoid. Those are NOT continuous duty like a cart requires. Yes they are cheaper - but for a reason.

Re: Solenoid question for 93 DS
Have since installed the original solenoid with good results..also ordered 2 micro switches controlling solenoid use..
The new solenoid was setup to mount exactly like the one I was replacing.. |
