Default Why would this wire burn?

98 Club Car Carry All Turf II

Why would this wire on the starter burn up? Second time. New starter, new solenoid, new micro switches. Obviously it got hot, but why?

Perplexed.........

What size gauge wire is that wire? Almost looks as if that wire couldn't handle the load. Also, check ends, connections. They should be solid. No play. Full contact at terminals.

Make sure all wires are connected correctly....

Thanks!
Not sure the guage, came with the cart. Probably original...

I think it is related to not starting. Sometimes the cart doesn't start. If you keep pressing the pedal, that wire gets hot. Does that indicate a bad starter? But, then it will run fine.

Maybe I'm going to have go over every wire and look for a short.

I would check the lug on the end of the wire and see if it is tightly installed. Look for signs of corrosion and movement.

It could also be a dead spot in the starter, although that doesn't seem as likely.

Wire & Connector & Lugs all tight.

Seems to intermittent for a dead spot. It won't start, leave it for a while, then it will start.

Nothing worse than an unreliable cart...
