Found a nice 2008 Gas Club Car for sale (need advice)
The cart looks really sharp in pictures. It has a lift kit, 23 inch tires and 12 inch wheels. What kind of ride can I expect from this setup. I will be riding mostly on asphalt road. I like the aggressive look but don't want to sacrifice a good ride.
It's a used cart so what should I look for when I go see it Wednesday? Price is $3800 which seems pretty good since it has a radio and speakers also. |

Re: Found a nice 2008 Club Car for sale (need advice)
That seems a bit high in my opinion for a 8 year old cart.... BUT I admit that I know nothing at all about used cart pricing; it just seems high compared to what I paid for my custom cart when it was only 3 years old and fresh out of a refurb shop...
Never mind everything I said I just see its a gas cart.... FIRST thing to check is going to be battery age; look for a date code stamped into the lead terminal or on a sticker. It could read something like D12 which would mean April 2012 etc. Batteries that are 3 plus years old can only be considered questionable as some start failing at this point depending on treatment and may last upward of 5 to 7 years though. I have a 6" lift with 12/22 wheel/tires with HD 4-leaf in the rear and an A-Arm lift in the front. It rides stiff but on the road it rides fine. My opinion is stay away from spindle lifts as I've read that they do not steer as well... Ask the sellers if it has had any other work done such as battery cables or new enlarged controller or motor etc... A radio and speaker combo really mean nothing to me and can be installed pretty cheap if it did... I prefer silence while driving around so that I can hear the birds and engage in conversation... |

Thanks I'm definitely not familiar with the different types of lifts so I will ask the seller if he knows what kind he has on the cart. I'm not sure what size tire and wheel combo are usually preferred for a good overall ride. I will try to post a pic of the cart if I can.

It looks like a good deal for a Club Car. Because of the aluminum frame it will never rust like an EZGO or Yamaha. Those tires will probably give you a decent ride. Tread pattern and sidewall height have more to do with ride quality than the overall height/ diameter. The "balloon " tires with tall sidewalls get really bouncy at speed on the road & too aggressive a tread feel like rolling on gear teeth.
