On the rev limiter with no mods
So, I just bought a project cart and I'm really baffled. It has no zip tie mod and everything seems stock but the cart still revs all way till it gets on the rev limiter. The spring is stretching but the cart will go 19-20 mph on stock size tires and get on the rev limiter. Any ideas??
I've attached a picture for you to see what it looks like now. Thanks for the help! |

Re: On the rev limiter with no mods
The governor has DEFINITELY been readjusted to get that speed, and bounce off the limiter!
I have the directions to adjust it back to stock (14mph), But won't be at my computer until the morning! |

Re: On the rev limiter with no mods
The way I adjust the governor is loosen the pinch bolt on the governor arm (7/16" wrench) just a little bit - you don't want it loose, just freed up enough to get the arm to twist on the shaft. Then I take a small pair of vice grips, hold the end of the shaft and twist the arm very slightly. Moving the arm counter clockwise on the shaft will speed it up, clockwise will slow it down. Tiny movements will cause big changes so take your time. There is a bit of trial and error involved. When you've got it dialed in where you want it tighten that pinch bolt again. I know that's probably not the "factory" procedure, but it works for me.

Re: On the rev limiter with no mods
That was a great explanation on how to adjust the governor
I won't bother to post the directions from the manual now! (unless requested) Heck... I might even get rid of my Zip Tie, and adjust mine just like that! |
