Default 97 DS keeps stalling

Hey guys!

Picked up a 97 Club Car DS a couple months back for my lady. When I bought it, it hasn't ran in 2 years. I changed the oil & filter, spark plug, both fuel filters and a couple of the fuel lines, and repaired a broken ground on the starter.

It ran but takes a few seconds to start, OK I deal with that the carb probably needs to be cleaned.

I then did a jakes 6" lift and 22" tires on 10s.

Well ever since I got it, the cart would randomly stall out like it was out of gas. Intermittent, and if I sat for a few seconds it would start right back up. This is annoying as can be.
It also intermittently does while driving and acts like a dead battery. If I move the gear selector from Forward to Neutral, then back to forwards, it starts RIGHT back up.

I believe I'm dealing with two different issues. I'm a Yamaha guy so I'm lost with Diag on this one. Please guide me lol.

Thanks a bunch
-Paul

id say you have two different issues as well, for the stalling i would say first go about cleaning the carb. When you have it apart make sure to check that the needle isnt getting stuck. Id also pull the fuel line and turn the engine over to make sure gas is coming out of the lines and you dont have a clogged fuel or vacuum line. Try running it with the intake hose disconnected and see if that helps. Make sure to clean out the airbox and blow out the filter if you havent already.

Also, since it has sat for so long I would check the valves. The FE290 are adjustable, the FE350 have hydraulic lifters but whichever one it is, i would still check them since its easy. The FE350 i just rebuilt had stuck valves, so f you have the 350 id check the pads on the rocker for excessive wear and push the valves by hand to see if they stick. If you have the 290, check the adjustment and also perform the same steps as i listed for the 350.

As far as the dead battery issue, i want to say its probably something with your switches behind the gear selector. Id go ahead and just do a full lookover of the electrical system, and check/clean all the connections you can. This could solve your issue and help prevent issues in the future. Anything thats been sitting for a while I recommend doing a full look over of the various systems to find any issues before they cause a breakdown.
