Default 1998 Carryall VI Transaxle Rebuild, Any Help??

Hello All,

I have a 1998 Carryall VI which is a key start cart... Not sure if that matters or not..

The problem that I am having is that the transaxle is making like a growling noise and it grinds sometimes, and pops out of gear at times... It does not really sound good at all... Well long story short I just got a new motor but I would like to rebuild the rear end first before I put motor in.....

I have rebuilt many car motors, Am very mechanically inclined but I have never done one of these transaxles

Any special tools needed to do this job??
Is there a kit that I can buy ?

Any Info on this will help , Like I said I have never done one of these b-4...

Thanks,

Ant...

You need to down load that link , It is against the rules to post that link, and it will be removed in a few minutes.

You'll need a bearing puller set. Those rear ends (really the same as a DS) are notorious for taking out the bearings on the input shaft. They sit high in the case and only get oiled by the lower gears flinging lube up at them. It's kind of amazing they last as long as they do. Go go slow and pay attention to how it all comes apart. Do an online search for "Club Car rear end rebuild" and you can find some good information and even a video or two. It can all be done with the rear end still in the cart, just pulling the axle shaft and cover from the passanger side of the rear end.

Try: golfcoursemechanics.blogspot.com/2011/11/club-car-rear-end-bearing-noise.html
Again copy quick in case it gets taken down. It's a good informative video.

I found a real good video on youtube of the casings apart and kind of what to expect once I get in there, But the video was taken down, Not sure why but its gone..
I was gonna pull the rear end out of the cart and do it on a bench.., Motors out right now so I figure this would be the time to pull the rear..

I am gonna make a video as I go...

You can't post post a live link to a golf cart business, and BU, and ban users. You can only post a live link to one of our sponsors
