Not normal charging issues
I am going to give this one more try! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Club car DS key start conversion (previously a pedal start). Unable to get the charging voltage from S/G through 3 pole(2 lrge + 1small) continuous use solenoid. Current wiring configurations: large white wire from S/G to one lug continuous use solenoid. 1 red wire from V/R (voltage reg) and 1 red wire to the positive terminal on the battery to the other large pole What I know; If I keep the blue start (control wire) from my "key start" connected along with the white jumper wire from the S/G side of the solenoid I blow the fuse Immediately prior to start, if I remove the white jumper wire, connect the blue wire alone the car starts, remove the blue wire temporary drop the white jumper AND the battery is immediately hitting 14.7volts my target turn the key off and the cart continues to run (no blue control wire) take off the white jumper drop on the blue control wire and the cart will shut down in off position. My thoughts; I considered a diode on the blue wire from the key to keep the back feed of higher voltage blowing the fuse but I still don't see how I can shut the cart down. Can anyone help? |

Re: Not normal charging issues
Have you considered getting a 4 post continuous duty solenoid?

Re: Not normal charging issues
Every gas Club Car have a 4 post continuous duty solenoid, (key, and pedal start)
my cart ( and most I've seen) have a diode across the 2 small terminals, how it works that way? I don't know... and thats why I didn't answer any of your other threads! It would be easier to figure out how to wire it with the proper solenoid! |

Re: Not normal charging issues
The point of the continuous duty solenoid is that it's continuous. In original pedal start configuration with the 4 pole solenoid the blue wire from the stock ignition switch provides (+) to one side of the solenoid when the switch is in on/run position. The other small terminal goes to ground through the micro switches for shifter and pedal position. Those two things complete the circuit and send power across the big terminals to engage the starter. The same bell crank in the black control box that works the pedal switch also disengages a ignition kill switch right under the pedal switch. When those two things happen, starter engaged and ignition kill disengaged, the engine can start and run. Once the engine runs the power generated by the starter/generator travels back across that solenoid to the battery.

Re: Not normal charging issues
Here's a diagram for the ECB on a key start cart,
I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a shot! |
