1989 DS gas tank replacement
Does anyone know where to get a replacement gas tank know for a 1989 ds? Mine has 2 cracks and I have tried to repair it but it keeps leaking after epoxy and plastic welding. I can't find these tanks anywhere, only tanks for '93 up. Does anyone know if that'll fit in my 89?

Hard to believe it, But i have used this on several fuel issues, For the price it's worth a shot

I may have to do that. I can't find a tank anywhere. The supplier from the link in the thread, lists the part number as the same part number for 1992 and above. 1016003. Other suppliers say that part number tank doesn't work below 1992. I have emailed the supplier for a clarification. Hopefully they can enlighten me or someone else can steer me in the right direction.

i bought that tank and it fits perfectly, i was concerned too but it had no issues

The newer gas tanks will work. Different shape but easy to retrofit from what I've read. The last year of the KF82 flathead (1991) even came stock with the newer-style tank.

The 1992 and up DS gas tank fit my 1989 DS. For anyone needing to do the same repair, you need to hook up a vent line (included in the kit) and you will need about a foot of new fuel line. Thanks again to the guys here who helped
