Club car shut off issue
So my work got ahold of a 2007 club car transporter 6 gas golf cart with the Kawasaki fe-290 engine. It's a key start model (new switch installed). It had been sitting in pretty rough shape some where. I cleaned the carb, checked the plug and spark, changed the oil, repaired a lot of chaffed wiring, new gas, etc. Well istarted the cart by squirting gas into the intake of the carb and once primed it ran right up. For about a week it ran perfect when started in gear and idled great. Now you have to push in the gas while cranking with the key to start it and if you let go of the accelerator it dies. You can turn the key again and it fires right back up as long as the accelerator is pressed and held. Any idea what could cause this to shut off and not idle when the pedal is released? I'm lost as I've tried bypassing safety switchesjust to troubleshoot but no luck. Trying to make it a safe to operate cart as we use it around Military aircraft to transport parts and tools. Oh and I have cleaned the carb again since this issue with no result. Suspect something electrical.

Re: Club car shut off issue
Had one that did similar and it was the switch on the throttle cam inside the electrical box.

Re: Club car shut off issue
Out of curiosity, have you tried just turning up the idle screw on the carb a little?

Re: Club car shut off issue
Thanks for the replies and yes I looked at the switch inside the electrical box. I also had ran the idle screw in with no joy. I'm almost certain I figured it out. I found the maintenance switch under the front seat broken. I switched it out with a standard 3 pole switch i had laying around and it seems to idle fine now in gear and idles normal in neutral when in maintenance mode. It has a slight hesitation during long drives around mid drive but straightens right back out and drives fine so I'm good with this for now..
