Default Clutches....

Hey, does any one have the driven and drive clutches machined with the 200rpm spring in the drive and the torque spring in the driven? I have the drive clutch machined with the 200rpm spring and am thinking about getting the driven clutch machined AND the torque spring. Now i saw on another forum that having a torque spring in the rear will not let the front clutch close all the way..... i was just wondering if any one else had this set up or something like it. Thanks....

I had Tom a CCP rebuild my driven clutch for the 2000 workhorse ...... It has everything in it he's got..... I have a stock drive clutch which I am told are about as good as you need for a stock motor .... This system works well IMO

Wait... WHAT???

I have BOTH my clutches in a box ready to be shipped tomorrow...
I wanted to have Tom do everything he can do with them,
for speed and torque... will one, overcome the other, in overall performance?

My FE350 is stock (with zip ties) It has ALOT of low end "grunt",
with speeds to 32 mph...
I'm just looking to "step it up" a bit! (because... I can!)

(sorry for the hijack boosted!)

Well..... I talked with Tom and with Mike on this before I did my '00 350cc workhorse ..... I was willing to buy a new Comet if needed. But I was told that the stock clutch is all I would need if it was working well..... I asked Tom to do all he could to improve the driven. So far I still have the stock clutch .....My govenor is around here somewhere? I cut and rewelded the cable mount bracket to completely eliminate the govenor

oh its cool man... thats why i posted this because im sure there is someone who had the same question i did. On the CPP forum i found this, A guy named wass1967 who said this ....." I will tell you right now, don't bother machining the drive clutch if you are going to run the HD driven clutch spring. It is too tight of a spring and will prevent the drive clutch from closing all the way. Believe me, I have done some major testing with 2 different drive clutches. 1 with the stock spring and 1 with the torque spring. And also 2 different driven clutches. 1 machined and 1 not. Also 4 different types of driven springs.

Best result is Machined drive clutch with a torque spring and a machined driven with a factory shorter spring(short by like 2 turns) put in the 3rd hole in the clutch. I was running the 1/16 mile(330') and then top end runs. This combo did the best in both
.".......however i do think that this guy was trying to get every MPH out of the clutches that he could, and was not worried about more acceleration. My cart has 6:1's with the front clutch machined... it goes 41mph now so im not too worried about loosing a few MPH... i just want to get to the top end faster!

Yep... we all pretty much know wass

I think I'm looking for pretty much the the same as you boosted...
getting to the "top end" faster...
but, keeping the low end "grunt"...
and a few mph more at the top end would be perfect!

I'll give Tom a call tomorrow, before I send these out to find out his opinion!

Thanks you guys!

Guys
Depending on brand of cart. We can machine clutches for 1. alot more speed. 2. Alot more power. 3. A little more power and a little more speed. But you have to choose which one best suits your needs. You also have to realize the procees is different depending on what brand cart you have. Some brands we machine drive clutch some driven clutch and some both clutches.
It would be great if we could add 10 mph and the ability to pull a 40 foot cabin cruiser but with roughly 10 HP to start with its tough to do both. I hope this clears things up a little LOL
