Default Rear Seat options

I'm new to the cart club and have looked over forums on this site and have not seen this discussed. Purchased my 1st cart a 96 DS gas over the weekend with a utility bed. I've already found LOTS of uses for the cart with the bed, but wife likes the idea of having a back seat to haul around freinds at festivals that we attend at times. SO my idea was to come up with a slide in rear seat with backrest that could be slid into the existing bed? only need the rear seat about 6 times a year so majority of the time the bed will be in use? Anything like that out there? I know of the fold down rear seats, but really like the idea of the bed I have.

That's a pretty good idea. I have a bed on mine too that I get lots of use out of, but there are some times I'd rather have a seat.

I have the flip rear seat and plan to make side rails for it to use as a utility bed. I'm fairly new to carts, so I'm no expert by any means, but I think that is probably an easier route than trying to swap the bed for a seat when you plan to have passengers. My thought here is just pull the side rails out and flip the seat back over, done. No unbolting the bed and bolting on the seat. I guess you could fab a seat bottom and back rest that drops in the bed, but then the rear passengers will have their feet dangling off the back.

Plowmans carts has a utility bed insert for the rear seat. They are big on the Yamaha carts but it looks like it will work for all rear seat kits.

One on ebay now kinda expensive.

It would need to be homemade. The seats are easy, the foot rest is the problem. I'm thinking start with boat seats, mount metal tubing from the under the seat that's bent down then across then back up to bottom of the seat (think barber chair). Mount the whole works to a piece of plywood sized to cover the bed. Use 2 temporary bolts to hold it down.

You might need to shorten the bed a little to make it more "ergonomical" for your riders. I made a bed with that in mind. [remove the tailgate and the rear bumper becomes a footrest]

My brother has a Kawasaki Mule with a dump/utility body. Mounted a removable slide in frame with 2 boat seats. Bottom of dump body serves as footrest. Yes, passengers are "riding high."

I have the same issue just bought a cart with a bed and would like to convert it to seats at times. The way I'm going about it is removing the tailgate and using it as a footrest , cutting the floor down to the support bracket it - but keeping the sides full length maybe curving the top. then bending some electrical EMT or kindolf for rails and footrest support. Weather just broke by me so now let the fun begin.
