2004 Precedent gas pedal start bypass
I have a 2004 Precedent. The other day it just stopped. I assumed it was the coil. So, I replaced it still nothing. After troubleshooting I fount a short in the wiring leading into the pedal, not the harness. I'd like to bypass the pedal and either use a push button start or a key start like I have on my Vanguard. I'd like to know what the 4 wires go to that lead to the pedal. Can anyone guide me on how to accomplish this?

Re: 2004 Precedent gas pedal start bypass
I guess a better question is what the 2 micro switches are for that are in the pedal? Are they the same as the 2 switches in the black box on the DS?
If I knew what wires went to, then I could better figure out what needs to be put on a switch. Any help? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 2004 Precedent gas pedal start bypass
Here's what I have found out and decided to do. Of the 4 wires, the orange and green, when connected, activate the solenoid. So, I have put the orange and green wires on a push button. So, with the key turned on, cart in gear, push button until the motor starts. Come off the button and the solenoid disengages.

The solenoid needs to be on/energized if you want the battery to charge from the S/G.

How would you suggest I do this setup?

While running with push start button, both small terminals on the solenoid are hot and one side of the large terminals. That would mean the solenoid is energized, correct?

Re: 2004 Precedent gas pedal start bypass
Yes the solenoid must be constantly energized in order to start it . In other words unlike the key start of your car in which u send a burst of juice to the starter and then "not when u let go of the key a golf cart solenoid u need to send power to the starter/generator to start it BUT u also need a constant source of power to "keep the solenoid closed" in order to allow the starter generator to reverse charge the battery

Re: 2004 Precedent gas pedal start bypass
So, instead of a push start starter button, I should opt for a "constant ON" toggle switch instead?
