Default New to me 07' DS - Questions

So I bought an 07 Club Car DS last weekend. Having been a previous President Electric owner, I wanted a gas cart and something different - therefore the DS. However, I have some questions with regards to how to modify.

I was reading one of the stickies regarding making the cart a little bit faster. I saw where you could put some zip ties on the governor spring. So I was looking into that today and wondering if it will help in my situation.

So I while in service mode, I had the cart running - so I thought I would just see how far the throttle on the carb would open...so I immediately noticed that when I have the pedal all the way down and barely move the throttle on the carb, the engine would immediately cut out...and then run and cut out...I presume this is the rev limiter kicking in. So if this is the case, how would I expect any increase in throttle by putting a zip tie on the spring. I am thinking any increase will just result in the rev limiter holding the engine back.

Now - my opinion is that the rev limiter is there for a reason and I have no want to disable, remove or anything else.

So can someone explain what may be going on and if anything could be done to increase the speed of my cart.

It currently runs about 19ish which may be all she can do - but I want to what I can or cannot do.

Thanks in advance.

If it is going 19mph soneone has already done some type of modification(s) to it.

What RPM is the engine turning at that speed?

I agree with HBR... it sounds like someones already adjusted the governor!

19 mph with stock sized tires is about all you're gonna get out of it with the limiter intact,
When the rev limiter is doing it's job, it kicks in around 3900 rpm's,
IF... you disable it, the engine will run up to about 4300 rpm's before the valves start to float, (which will only get you about 2 extra mph)
when the valves float... BOOM goes the engine!
There's only so much you can get out of a one lung 9.5hp engine!

A lift kit and larger tires will get you a few extra mph's,
you could also consider 8:1 high speed gears, but you'll lose a bit of low end grunt. (torque)
Then? there's always a larger engine, but that has it's downfalls also with the clockwise rotation transaxle.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses. I have no idea what RPMs are being turned.

Cart is already lifted(4in) and has 12in rims - can't remember the size of the tires.

No desire to remove the rev limiter as it has a job to do. No valve shall be floating on my watch.

It is what it is...I had just heard of people adjusting governor and what not to get speeds in the mid 20s.

Guess I need to update my sig line and picture...sending note to self.
