Default 95 carryall ignition problem

My cart will drive fine for about 5 mins usually and then it will just shut off with no spark. I can unplug the ground wire from the ignitor and it will run again. I have changed the microswitch and run a direct wire from it to the ignitor. I threw the rev limiter away. Just a little confused on how it's still shutting off. Thanks for the help

I gather yours has the one piece coil & ignitor? As a 95 it would have originally had an ignitor separate from the coil like this:

Otherwise, if it is the "all in one" unit there has to be something in your kill wire path that's grounding your spark. When you unhook the wire to regain spark, where are you unplugging it?

OK, and just to be clear, you have removed the RPM limiter and ran a new wire from the kill micro switch to this ignitor? How do you have the coil tied into this? where are you unhooking it when you cause it to spark again? Are you leaving the ground lead unhooked to make it run, or momentarily unhooking it then reattach?
It's quite common an understandable that things get modified a bit on a 20+ year old cart. Just trying to get a clearer view of exactly what you've got.

After removing the rev limiter there was one wire coming out from underneath the shroud. I ran a wire from microswitch to that wire and 90% of the time it will work but after 5 mins or so it will cut out the spark. If I unplug the connection I made from the microswitch it'll run again no problem then hook it back up it'll work properly for a few more mins then lose spark again. I have not popped the shroud off or anything. New keyswitch and new microswitch

So does it still have the separate ignitor (as pictured above)? if so it should be connected to the black wire that comes out of the shroud - kind of a "Y" junction. One side connects to the spade terminal on the ignitor and the other side to the wire to the kill switch. The body of the ignitor mounts to ground. If the coil on it requires the ignitor it should not be able to run at all without that ignitor hooked up to the coil and to ground. If it doesn't require the ignitor (if the coil was changed sometime) the ignitor would no doubt intermittently ground out the ignition.

I think I need to pop the shroud off and see what I've got. I know that the motor has been changed, maybe it has the new style coil. How would it be wired differently if it had the stand alone coil? Obviously the firing is working because when it cuts out if I unplug the wire it will run again.

Does it still have that separate ignitor on it? If it does, you might just try taking it off and see what you're left with. To look at the coil you won't see any visual difference between the two possibilities. If you do get to the point of taking the shroud off, post the part number (if you can see one) on the coil.
