Help needed, Only starts in certain part of pedal travel. ????

Not sure why but my 98 cc only starts when the throttle is in a certain spot. Is there someplace to adjust this? I have driven similar carts and you just push the pedal and it starts.

I would guess that issue to possibly be found in the starter limiter micro switch, maybe it's sticking or malfunctioning? In the older carts this switch is in the black box, I think it's the same in the newer carts. I'd start there if it were me.

Does that have adjustment? Is it hooked to the throttle linkage?

Does it matter if you play with the choke? May need carb cleaned if choke changes the way it starts

Maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves here. When you say it's not starting, do you mean it always tries to turn over until the pedal finds that sweet spot and then it roars to life? Or do you mean that the motor makes no noise whatsoever until you get the pedal in the right spot. I had assumed the latter.

Yes, only turns over at about half throttle or so.

I also have a '98 DS and I am experiencing the same issue. The starter rotates to start the engine in one small spot near the beginning of pedal travel. Once the engine starts then you can take off. If i just mash the pedal, nothing happens at all.
I see two micro switches in the black box:
Which one should i look at?
How to test?

I found a wiring diagram and one of the limit switches goes to the RPM limiter. My cart started surging at full throttle with the engine shutting on and off, I was told to remove the ground on the RPM limiter, the surging went away.
Not sure if the pedal sweet spot start issue occurred right after the ground was removed but it was certainly close to that time.

Now that you mention it I unhooked mine as it went bad and would not start. I had to have it in our homecoming parade and just needed to get it running NOW!

I tightened the cable from the black box to the governor using the jam nuts to increase speed (16-17 mph), this caused the cart to have no low speed. Since we do more puttering around than high speed runs I've already loosened the cable to get my low speed back (13 mph).
i'll reconnect the RPM limiter and see if the pedal sweet spot disappears.
Maybe someone will chime in and give us some advice, this has had to have happened in the past.
