I didn't have an answer for you before, but maybe I do now...
It's a possibility that your rev limiter may be failing! (It's the easiest to troubleshoot) On the lower front of the engine, you'll see a 2"×3" box... that's the limiter, there is a ground wire for it attached to the left mounting bolt, remove the bolt and the wire eyelet from it, reinstall the bolt, and tape the eyelet up, and test drive! If it still happens, then we'll move on to the coil! |

Well...... Its not the Rev limiter.
Guess I'm gonna need a new coil.... How do I look up the part number for the coil? Are the cheap ebay ones as good as the oems? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk |

Re: 99 club car ds runs, then dies, backfires and runs again
Sorry to hear!
OEM coil is always your best bet, especially for what it takes to replace them, sadly... the price is crazy/stupid! With the ebay coils... they're pretty much "hit and miss" for a good, long lasting one! (it's kinda a "you get what you pay for" type thing!) If you decide to go with OEM, check with David at Revolution Golf Cars, (a fine BGW sponsor) It isn't listed on his website, but see what he can do for you! http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/ |

Re: 99 club car ds runs, then dies, backfires and runs again
Well so far so good.... I just put the back body on enough to take it for a test ride... Its done fantastic the first 2 times out, need additional testing to be sure but everything looks promising. :)
By biggest problem so far is the dang set screw broke off the forward /neutral /reverse lever.. (in the rod) this thing is kicking my butt. I've got a reverse drilled hole in it, my screw extractor gets a good bite... This thing will not budge.... Ive heated it, spray it with wd40, sprayed it hot, sprayed it cold... Fyi when your screw extractor slips in the Chuck of your drill, don't use a pair of channel locks to tighten the Chuck tighter. This will break your drill chuck. I bought a different style extractor today hopefully I can get enough torque with a T handle tomorrow. If not I'm sure someone has a used one on this site somewhere.
