CLub Car oil leak
I have an oil leak that seems to be coming from the oil fill tube base where it attaches to the block. Is there a gasket or O ring that can be replaced? If so is there a part number or specification which will help locate a new one? Does the oil fill tube just pull up out of the block? My cart is a 1994 DS (FE290). Thanks

Re: CLub Car oil leak
Yes... the dipstick pulls straight out... no turning!
What ever you do... don't pull the dipstick out while the engine is running!!! or crank the engine with the dipstick out... oil will shoot all over the place! ( past experience) I don't know about the O ring! BTW... Welcome to BGW! |

Re: CLub Car oil leak
Probably a heat hardened o-ring, normal crankcase pressure when operating will force oil mist past the o-ring... I see this all the time on mower engines with this same style of fill tube...

Re: CLub Car oil leak
I'm hoping it's the O-ring but after it gets cleaned up he might find a leaking side cover gasket. just seems to be the case on CCs

Re: CLub Car oil leak
Thanks to all of you for the replies. I wasn't sure if the tube just pulled out or not...I did not want to make the problem worse. I will let you know how it works out when I get to it tomorrow...hopefully! BTY, this is a great site.

Re: CLub Car oil leak
Got to it today. Removed the ground strap, loosened bolt and the oil filler tube pulled right out just like LOCKMAN1 said. The O ring looked ok, but I replaced it anyway. Reassembled and drove.......no leaks yet.
BTW...thanks to CC-JOHN for the web link to the diagrams. They really help. |

Re: CLub Car oil leak
Still leaking. I took it out to do some donuts in the snow which we only get once every few years and it is still getting oil on the pan under the engine. I am sure it is from the oil filler tube. Has anyone used gasket sealer in addition to the O-ring?
